Befriending

Are you over 60 and are alone and lonely? Or do you have a relative or friend who feels lonely or isolated and would welcome a regular chat with someone trustworthy?

Our Befriending Service may be able to help you.

Our Befriending service is run by volunteers who offer:

  • Regular telephone calls
  • A listening ear
  • Information on, and access to other useful services

Our Befriender would not be able to:

  • Do housework, shopping or gardening
  • Do any personal care
  • Deal with your money matters
  • Accept money or gifts

What to expect from us:

  • Weekly telephone call from a volunteer
  • Volunteers who are carefully screened and trained
  • To be respected and valued as an individual
  • Contact with coordinator/ service manager who will deal with any concerns you may have with the befriending service

What we expect from you:

  • To let us know if you are unable to keep to the arrangements you make with the befriender,
  • To let us have your comments on our service.
